Why a trip to Sri Lanka belongs on your bucket list!
a divine island paradise you could become addicted to 🙉
Sri Lanka is my “home” ✨️ It is my own little piece of paradise in the Indian Ocean.
It is the “home” which grounds me but also provides comfort, joy and familiarity.
A tear drop shaped island in the Indian ocean, Sri Lanka is part of South Asia. It is a country which boasts a rich cultural heritage spanning over 2000 years.
It's mouth-watering cuisine, ancient traditions & customs and Buddhist (amongst other religious) values add exciting dimensions to this island nation. A country of mixed races, it is a melting pot of cultural experiences for all visitors.
Once you step foot on Sri Lankan soil, you may not want to leave :-)
Us Sri Lankans are some of the most hospitable humans in the world. Come over and try us ;-) at least once! You won’t be sorry.
It is the people of the nation who push the country forward with their ingenuity, courage, unbridled joy & perseverance. They truly are an amazing bunch.
I am excited to introduce this new series of posts, on my travels to Sri Lanka, my home country.
These posts will showcase the spectacular, kaleidoscopic paradise that it is - via my own personal photography, because I am an incurable shutterbug!
So, to kick off, join me as I explore some hill country, (better known as the town of Kandy & beyond) landscapes & a very special retreat that make up but a tiny part of the vibrant tapestry that is Sri Lanka. 🪷
Future posts will include some of my favourite local travel destinations, tips on anything from how to dress for the humid, tropical weather, some key phrases in the local language, ‘Sinhalese’ (to help you get around), to the best eateries and night life (which is what SL is all about!) around the country.
So if this post got you thinking about visiting Sri Lanka, you might want to stick around ;-)!
